Un Baroque Frivole with Karina & Marta Zanevskiy

As an artist, I have been always attracted to dramatic style of Baroque Art. Baroque period started in Rome around 17th century and known for its theatrical atmosphere, rich textures and dynamic flourishes.

Baroque style can be seen in portraits, still life and mythical paintings.

A high-end fashion clothing line "Dolce & Gabbana" has many traditional characteristics of Baroque Style: bold color fabrics, flower embroidery, trimmed lace, rustic gold accessories and metal tiaras with semi-presious gemstones.

CREATIVE TEAM:

BEHIND THE SCENES:

Tiaras and jewelry were designed and hand-made by Helena Raju. Each piece was carefully assembled with paper thin metal filigree and decorated with gemstones, glass beads and Swarovski crystals.

Helena often uses tiaras and headpieces for other types of photography sessions such as Maternity or Engagement and believes that this accessory creates an elegant and feminine look.

1. What is the wildest thing you have done?

Julian: When I was in college I visited St. Andrews, Scotland, UK. One evening after several rounds of pub golf, I was dared along with some other friends to run into the North Sea on a pitch black beach in the middle of the night. We removed some clothing and blindly started running toward where we heard crashing waves. The water was freezing and slammed into us very painfully. We immediately ran the opposite direction as fast as we could.

2. Where did you grow up?

Julian: I grew up in Dearborn, Michigan in a blue collar, middle eastern immigrant town.

3. What is the hardest part of being a model?

Julian: The hardest part is being patient for opportunities. There is always so much more to learn and so many people to meet.

4. You were a runway model for Philadelphia Fashion Week, what was the most challenging part?

Julian: I missed casting as I only recently became a professional model. I showed up at the first fitting after talking to PFW producer, Kevin Parker. I had to be very extroverted to build relationships and get opportunities, which this industry relies upon.

5. Your secret of walking the runway with a Poker face?

Julian: I think about how all the obstacles I’ve overcome have made me who I am and put me exactly where I want to be.

6. The best way to relax is…

Julian: Accept what you can’t change and change what you can.

7. Inspirational quote (a poem that defines me)…

“Desiderata” by Max Ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste,

and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible without surrender

be on good terms with all persons.

Speak your truth quietly and clearly;

and listen to others,

even the dull and the ignorant;

they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons,

they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others,

you may become vain and bitter;

for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans.
Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs;

for the world is full of trickery.

But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals;

and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love;

for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.
Take kindly the counsel of the years,

gracefully surrendering the things of youth.

Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune.

But do not distress yourself with dark imaginings.

Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself.
You are a child of the universe,

no less than the trees and the stars;

you have a right to be here.

And whether or not it is clear to you,

no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.
Therefore be at peace with God,

whatever you conceive Him to be,

and whatever your labors and aspirations,

in the noisy confusion of life keep peace with your soul.
With all its sham, drudgery, and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

8. What type of photoshoot you would never do?

Julian: Anything that hurt an animal, then environment, or a person.

9. If you were a super hero, what superpower would you have?

Julian: Mind control

10. What’s your zodiac sign?

Julian: Gemini

11. When you were a child, who you wanted to become?

Julian: I was always nervous to pick one thing I wanted to be. I thought it would close doors to things i may want to try or explore. So, I decided to never stifle myself and decide.

Thank you Julian!
